My work is representational, working from photographs and often attracting comments that the end results retain a photographic quality.
Whilst composing my pictures artistically, I prefer to maintain the integrity of the subjects.
I have always thought of my paintings as ‘windows’ on places where I would love to be.
I love to paint stormy skies, reflections in water, trees in the landscape, windmills, wind drainage pumps, churches and watermills.
I have a passion for the elegance of late 19th / early 20th century design, for example, steam and sailing yachts and ships and railway related subjects.
I have also been commissioned to capture picturesque private properties for their owners, which is particularly satisfying.
Take a look at my portfolio to see examples of my work. There are four galleries of my paintings - landscapes, buildings, boats and other paintings - and one of my drawings.
My work has often been commissioned to celebrate a special occasion or place that is important to the client or as a present to a close friend or relative.
Whilst I would prefer to work from my own photographs and am prepared to travel to take them, I am also happy to work from good quality images supplied to me.
I am currently taking commissions so please contact me with your requirements.
Commission prices vary depending on the size of the work and the subject but typically range from £150 for a 16"x12" canvas size to £300 for one sized 24"x18".
